Also for fun - try enabling password for the screensaver and 60 minute idle logout. Then put your laptop to sleep and come back 60 min later only to have hung login window that accepts no input - works that way every time for me.
Good thing the screensaver password dialog is the login window itself (even the same exact process) in Lion then, huh?

A surprising, but welcome, twist.
I thought it was the frigid version of your floor-hockey league. ;)
No- totally different group of people. Great bunch of guys.
That's actually very surprising (in a good way). People usually aren't as sensitive to that word as they are with the N word, especially straight people.
That was the thing that clinched it for me. When they told me that story, I knew I had found some good people.
May I use that as my signature? :p
Yep. ;)

This just proves a lot of the verizon fanboys were all liars. They actually secretly switched to AT&T and got the iPhone already.

If this is designed specifically for mobile text-based chat, I'll be all over it in a flash.
SMS and MSN and other text-based messaging have changed my life and the lives of deaf people around the world. Before, telcoms was a closed world to me, now I'm never without my O2 XDA mini :)
It isn't just Paris Hilton who carries a sidekick, millions of USA deaf people do, and I'm willing to bet us deaf form a significant proportion of sales of mobiles-with-qwerty-keyboards around the world.
Bring it on Apple, I'm sick of using Windows Mobile on my otherwise awesomely excellent HTC hardware.

How much is that?
Only enough to give 187,500 MobileMe customers 64GB of cloud storage to back up their iPads. Apple has most likely already sold over 10X that many iPad 2's (but not all of them are 64GB models...)

Jesus I wish the US was like that (wrt cell phone service). The hoops you have to jump through to get even pre-paid service in the US are truly ridiculous. If there is a major disappointment for me about this keynote, it's that it looks like the iphone will be carrier locked at least until '08, but we'll see. I was hoping Apple would sell the phones unlocked, and start the migration in the US away from carrier subsidies.
Yes the Carrier issue IS quite possibly the hair in the ointment. Apple's proven they can build the best devices hands down. These exclusive carrier deals stand a much better chance at killing this than competition from any other device manufacturer. Cingular, Verizon, Sprint etc...they're all the same with equally poor service. The FCC loves to support little monopolies and we the users are forced into a market with poor selection of both devices and carriers. Let's hope this prompts another revolution in the carrier landscape.
What was the quote at the beginning of the conference: if you want to build the best software build your own hardware? Well in this case Apple may have to build (buy?) their own network with no contracts and flexible pay as you go deals to make this work. Otherwise the industry may just sink this entire project - like the entertainment industry tried to do with movies and music on the iPod.

Probably saw the writing on the wall with Apple's recent 'Post-PC' direction, even more so with iOS's impending infiltration of Mac OS.

Hmm... I'm gonna avoid this like the plague now.
You will find two things:
This sort of system will be the "price of admission", and
The features and benefits Apple iTV offers will be as compelling for TV as the iPod was for music.
One key benefit for example, is access to your video content including your DVR from anywhere.

I used to have a HyperCard stack that was full of old icons of all different kinds. The first page was an index of all the categories. I think it was just called Icon Stack. Does anyone still have a copy they could upload on rapidshare? I would really appreciate it.

I think google has a lock on the map thing. I can't see apple employees driving around remapping the world to get their own data base
I dont think they are looking to collect source data - there are plenty of license sources for that today.
Its how the maps app works - I dont like Android as much as iOS for a lot of reasons, but maps and navigation is definitely not one of them.
I hope they upgrade their GPS systems also - in NYC, iPhone 4 GPS on foot is extremely poor compared to my Sprint EVO.

FCP is dieing. It lags well behind the other software and the killing of the xServer just adds more to it.

I am trying to attach a photo to an email and all of a sudden, the window is too big and I am unable to make it smaller OR choose the pic. I am able to get the photo but on the bottom, where it says cancel or 'choose' or is it 'open', I can't see that part.
I know this is super easy n whoever is reading this is probably giggling to themselves, 'this girl hasn't learned a damn thing'.....I'm trying folks, I'm trying.

I can't really give any advice here because if I were you, I wouldn't have been okay with him having sex to begin with...
I guess the question is this: Are you okay with the fact that your son is having sex? If the answer is yes, then fine, he can sleep over at his girlfriend's. If the answer is no, then no he cannot go, but you should also be having a discussion with your son about how you feel about the subject.

I had no idea what the Original post was talking about until Dreadnought pointed it out.
You can also try restarting the computer and even power-cycled your network if the problem is still there after trying Dreadnought's suggestion.

I believe you are all missing the point.
The studios want HDCP over DVI and HDMI or whatever. There are no current systems that properly use it, even if they say they do, because the licenses or permissions have not been distributed yet and they are HARDWARE objects.
HARDWARE is Apple's forte.
I suspect iTV is actually a series of devices that properly implement HDCP to suit the studios that demand seamless and enforceable content protection. As mentioned, mainly to protect the asset of a time sensitive and expensive major movie release.
There are really only two premium price revenue timeframes for movies. A few weeks after theatrical release and a few months after DVD (now online) release. They simply want to protect the "premiumness" of the price.
Apple does that in computers with methods to try to prevent installation and proper use of OSX on any computer but an Apple. It mainly works.
So I suspect we will see a "new" video iPod and iTV as a breakout box for your existing TV, and iTV enabled LCD TV's in the "media release".
Then no studio will hesitate.

Don't think it's neccessary. I don't think people take the video out on their ipods and record them onto DVD using DVD recorders....

Glad to see the end of MobileMe and couldn't stand the "Me" idea. Seemed to be a trend back in the mid to late 90s when I worked for a big consumer products company. They had an intranet MY[big brand name].com and YOUR[big brand name].com and none of us in corporate could remember which was for consumers and which was for dealers.
Much better to think about it as what it can do for me, instead of being about "me". I look forward to learning more about "it". :apple:

Atari has released a new emulator for the iPhone and iPad called Atari's Greatest Hits (http://appshopper.com/games/ataris-greatest-hits) [iTunes (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ataris-greatest-hits/id422966028?mt=8)]. The free universal download comes with Pong and also offers a selection of 100 classic Atari arcade and 2600 console games for in-app purchase. The full list of games can be seen here (http://toucharcade.com/2011/04/06/atari-brings-100-retro-titles-to-ios-in-ataris-greatest-hits/) but include Asteroids, Centipede, Crystal Castles, Gravitar, Star Raiders, Missile Command, Tempest, Battlezone, and much more. Each 4-pack is offered for $0.99 or all 100 games can be purchased for $14.99.
The package has been well received (http://toucharcade.com/2011/04/07/ataris-greatest-hits-review-my-god-its-full-of-pixels/) at sister site TouchArcade, but perhaps most promising is that Atari had previously announced support (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/01/08/ces-2011-icade-for-ipad-magic-mouse-inductive-charger/) for the iCade iPad gaming accessory.
