'It's like winning the lottery': Delighted Ashton Kutcher joins his new Two And A Half Men cast mates at CBS event

It's raining men: Ashton Kutcher joins his new Two And A Half Men castmates Jon Cryer, left, and Angus T. Jones at a CBS event in New York today

It may have been raining as he arrived to the CBS party, but Ashton Kutcher certainly feels like the sun is shining on him.

The 33-year-old actor, who was recently announced as Charlie Sheen's replacement on Two And A Half Men, said getting the gig 'feels like winning the lottery'.

Ashton spoke about his delight today as he joined his fellow cast mates Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones at U.S. channel CBS's Upfront event in New York.

Angry faces: Kutcher was recently announced as an addition to the hit comedy following the sacking of wayward Charlie Sheen

'I've never probably in my 13 years in show business received more phone calls and e-mails from people congratulating me on this job,' Kutcher told Us Magazine.

He continued: 'You'd almost think I won the lottery or something, which I kind of did.

'I've got the best job in showbusiness, and I am ecstatic about that.'

The No Strings Attached star will earn around $1m per episode for the top-rated comedy.

His co-star Cryer said he was looking forward to working with Kutcher, saying: 'I'm incredibly happy they're bringing Ashton to the show.

Ecstatic: Kutcher said he was delighted about his new role and said it felt like winning the lottery

'But the question that I have to ask is, "Did you have to get the tall guy? Really? Is that necessary?"' the 46-year-old joked.

Inside the event at Carnegie Hall Kutcher, Cryer and 17-year-old Jones all put on their best mock angry faces for a photograph which Kutcher posted on Twitter with the accompanying message: 'First cast argument 2.5 men.'

CBS Entertainment Chief Nina Tassler, who said digging up fresh comedy was a priority at the network during the development season, would not reveal any details about how the writers would introduce Kutcher's character.

'We're very excited,' Tassler said about the shake-up of the show, following wayward Sheen's recent firing. 'We're past thrilled,' she added.

CBS will introduce only a handful of new shows next season, and those will stick largely to its tried and true formula of crime dramas and sitcoms.

Such modest changes show just how few holes CBS believes it has in a prime-time line-up that currently accounts for more than half of the top 30 shows in TV, including hits Two and a Half Men, NCIS and The Mentalist.

Here come the boys: The new line-up were attending the CBS Upfront event where the U.S. channel made announcements about the new television season

'To get on the schedule you have to be really good,' CBS Corp Chief Executive Les Moonves said at Wednesday's schedule announcement.

CBS's most unexpected decision did not involve a new show, but rather one of its returning hits, The Good Wife, which is moving to Sundays where it will be up against NFL football.

As for new additions to the line-up, CBS has ordered three new dramas and two new comedies for the autumn, and will order another drama and possibly a couple of comedies for midseason.

ABC ordered a whopping 13 new shows and NBC ordered 12 for the 2011-12 season.

The first of CBS's new comedies, 2 Broke Girls tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a penniless waitress and a former trust fund baby.

The other comedy, How To Be a Gentlemen, is a workplace sitcom that will debut on the highly competitive Thursday nights with Kevin Dillon of HBO's Entourage in a starring role.

CBS said How To Be Gentlemen would lead into Person of Interest, a new drama that executives said showed the best audience testing results of any of its drama pilots over the past 15 years.

The show, from hitmaker J.J. Abrams, is a crime thriller that teams an ex-CIA agent with a mysterious billionaire.

CBS also introduced the media drama A Gifted Man and Unforgettable, a crime series that follows a former police detective with a memory condition that allows her to recall every detail of her life.

Two cable networks, TNT and TBS, also unveiled their show development plans on Wednesday.

Among the planned shows is TNT's Major Crimes, a spin-off of the popular series The Closer that will be set in the Los Angeles Police Department, and TBS's The Wedding Band, an hour-long comedy that follows four part-time musicians.
