Makes no sense to put these in Macbook so soon. Macbook Pro, yes, but not the macbook. Apple have always differentiated the two lines, the fact that current Macbooks are comparable to the Pros is just plain luck and won't last long, IMO.

You are reasoning from apple's history but it's all different now. The problem with this logic is that since Dell, HP and Gateway will be using the merom in consumer computers and apple is using the same chips as everyone else they have to use merom too or appear to be behind in the technology.

[/SIZE]seven months from now, some yutz is going to be saying the same thing about merom.Merom won't be going away in 2007. So no yutz need apply for next mobile processor amticipation duty all of next year, unless of course you mean the 4 core Mobile version of Merom coming next Fall '07. :)that will be me with santa rosa. :cool:And Santa Rosa will add to Merom's Power next Spring. That's what I'm waiting for as well. :)

Trouble with this forum is a whole bunch of folks have just come in after we've already spent the past 6 months discussing this stuff and most of the newbies are completely

If we dont see it all on Tuesday. What is the longest Apple can wait? And why would they choose to wait?

I could see Apple waiting a while (at least through the back to school season) while the prices on the Yonah processors plummet, and Apple's laptop profit margin skyrockets to even higher levels. I'm guessing Merom's in the MBP and iMac in September (along with the new nano), just in time for the holiday shopping season.

Good! I don't like Apple being highest in these kind of things. The number one retailer in the country is Walmart, doesn't make it good. Audi and Mercedes aren't the most used cars, but they're the nicest.

If Apple cannot beat them....they sue them. Way to go Apple, you are devoid of morals and innovation.

When can we officially say that Apple is now the New Microsoft?

Our highway exits are distanced usually by a mile. Changing the system would really mess that up unless we reconstruct all the exit ramps.

This argument is just too funny. Right, people are going to suddenly start missing exits they've always taken once the metric system comes in. Oh, and all the old houses that were built to Imperial measurements will have to be torn down and rebuilt.

Guys, to anyone living in a country that's already made the switch, your arguments really do sound very Chicken Little. The switch won't be cheap or easy in the short term, but one thinks it's inevitable eventually. Why keep putting it off onto the next generation? Your kids WILL thank you if you switch today.

Please recheck your math and research on how many carriers the iPhone is available WORLDWIDE - you know, the world is bigger than just the US - and all those carriers worldwide are not allowed to put any crap on it or modify it in a way that makes maintaining updates too expensive. Every iPhone User worldwide can update the same day.

I travel internationally weekly, and EVERY international iPhone carrier is bound by their arms and legs just like AT&T. It's Apple's way or no way. Want to advertise iPhone? MUST be Apple's advertisements. Want to offer iPhone? Must include visual voicemail as Apple wants it. Want to sell iPhone? Must be at Apple's prices with apple's terms.

Want to break the contract with Apple? Must turn over your first born child. It's the same story in every country. I am very well traveled, and I'm very familiar with iPhone in other countries. I bought both mine in the UK, FYI

Hrm.. When I hear "Mac Pro", I think of a giant behemoth of a computer, with super internals for crazy processing power for graphics design or whatever your poison may be..

Actually, you can get by with a mid/high level iMac now for most graphic design needs (photoshop, illustrator, etc) these days and even average video editing needs

MacPros are really now for higher end video and 3D applications or those that really need to get their work done fast and rendered fast.

Funny though, one of the 3D companies that works in our building actually bought high end iMacs last year and they use them for Maya and they work great they said...I think we're at a plateau for a lot of apps in what you can do with them and the latest gen processors in the iMacs, MBPros are somewhat overkill for a lot of people already.

    How do you figure 288.
The division automatically means anything to the right is The divisor.
    So
    48 divided by 2(9+3)
    48 divided by 2 x 12
    48 divided by 24
    Answer 2

However if I was determining my salary 288 for sure

I can't go so far as to say the answer is 288 as I don't think it is correct to take / at face value. I don't think that is what the author intended.

PEBCAK. (see earlier in the thread).

The answer of what was typed is 288. If the entity between the keyboard and chair meant something else, they should have typed something else.

The problem isn't with the expression it's with the wetware.

There will NOT be a tablet - there is ZERO market for it.
A device already exists that does the work of a tablet PC - its called an iBook.

IF you want a really cheap tablet - try pen and paper.

    [OFF TOPIC]

Also when you say American do you refer to any citizen in the American continent or just the people that was born in the United States of America.
As a US citizen, that is a pet peeve of mine. The Americas are pretty friggin' big continents, not a country.

Less is more, and more is less when to taxes you refer...

If you have a big refund, it means that you pay too much, so you are not being very good at your day to day application of math.

Either way an American receiving a big tax refund means that a lot of his (or her) money was better used by the government than what he (or she) could have done with it. Taking us back to the same subject: poor application of Math skills.:o
To be honest, it isn't that simple. The government doesn't make it easy to even understand what the heck they're asking for on the forms.

This update is not good enough, apple. Do more.

8 megapixel camera with 1080P recording.
    64GB option
    Dual core processor

Those updates are not good enough for a device that gets an update only once a year.

    Not enough.

I am going to buy white iphone 4 for 99 dollars or 49 dollars this summer and skip the iPhone 5 on paying 199 dollars.

It's yet another Dropbox offering that's a long ways behind awesome-integration with other products (Lots of apps sync data between devices via Dropbox). And, if I put a music file into dropbox I can play it, mobile device independent.

Also, why would I only want my music accessible when I have internet? Any road trips from where I live (Utah) generally put me in EDGE territory which won't be consistently fast enough to stream the audio at enough quality, let alone the fact that there are several dead spots along the way. I'll stick to having my music on my iPhone. No buffer, no stutter, no data usage. Oh, yeah. That. Data usage. With carriers bottlenecking you now, you think they'll favor Amazon cloud delivery for people who want to stream their music all day long? They (Amazon) will probably also do some more compression on the files so it'll sound like listening to your music in a tin can.

At first glance, being very pessimistic, I'm not really interested in this product.

you might have missed apple's product release strategy in the last 15 years. release a product with a limited set of features that work well and add on later.

same strategy here. if amazon waits until every possible listening scenario is taken care of they will never release a product. look at the kindle, all it does is let you read books and cheaply. and people love it
