Rock 'n' Royal: Bruce Springsteen watches daughter Jessica take part in Windsor Horse Show

Bruce Springsteen and wife Patti Scialfa support equestrian daughter Jessica at the Royal Windsor Horse Show

She could have followed in her father Bruce’s footsteps and picked up a guitar.

But Jessica Springsteen opted instead for a riding hat. And what an inspired decision that has proved to be.

The 19-year-old cantered out on Friday to compete with the very best at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

Jessica came a respectable sixth in the jumping competition in front of the Queen and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Her doting father, 61, was almost unrecognisable at the event – clean-shaven and wearing a suit and tie.

He was joined by wife Patti Scialfa, 57, to cheer their daughter on.

Jessica is a nationally-ranked equestrian and has been riding since she was 15

Jessica is a nationally-ranked champion horsewoman. She has been riding since she was 15 with horses raised on the family’s Stone Hill Farm in New Jersey.

She completed Friday’s ride on her horse Vordnado Van Den Hoendrik and won £120.

Last year she competed in the open jumping competition but could only manage 21st place.

I should have brought my guitar: Bruce looked a little bored at times

Springsteen and Patti have been married for 20 years this June and have two other children, sons Evan, 21 and Sam, 17.

Meanwhile, across the Pond in Springsteen's native New Jersey, a bust of the singer was unveiled at Asbury Park where it will stay for five months.

Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J, was Springsteen's debut album released in 1973.
