Woman tells 19-year-old to walk to work, then slams vehicle into her

Woman hits daughter with car

A van driver who ran over her 19-year-old daughter's foot Wednesday afternoon was charged with aggravated vehicular assault and domestic violence.

Michelle L. Touma, 41, of the 1100 block of Chenango Road in Wakeman, told officers she'd been arguing with her daughter, Emily Touma, while driving her to work at Taco Bell on Milan Road.

Emily asked her mother to stop at Walmart on Milan Road before dropping her off at work, so she could go to the bank inside the store.

When Emily got out of the van, Michelle told her she would have to walk the rest of the way to work because she didn't want to wait, Perkins police said.

Emily started yelling and hitting the hood of the van in protest, prompting Michelle to swerve the vehicle toward her daughter so she could get close enough to smack her in the head, police said.

Instead, Emily fell to the asphalt and the van's rear wheel ran over her foot.

Officers viewed surveillance video recorded by a security camera at Walmart and saw Michelle pull forward and hit her daughter with the right front corner of the van, knocking her to the ground.
