RETTA
When gorgeous looks mix up with unbelievable singing talents, what you have is a package that’s simply irresistible. Call her RETTA, you’re sure to have a combination of raw Nigerian flavor. Born in Nigeria to a musical influence father and Nigerian Nurse mother from Rivers State. Retta, the fourth child of six girls, was one of those kids whose future passion for the spotlight was easily predicted. Growing up in school, Retta always felt out of place with her peers and she was once referred to as a loner. She often stayed in doors to paint pictures of her surrounding by writing songs and singing. Retta always knew that the world will hear her pain, love and heartbreak through her voice. Retta began to develop love for the Arts, moving up from her primary education to high school in Port-Harcourt Nigeria where her family resides. Participating in major shows and events in high-school, that passion began to prove itself as she got more involved in the art of entertainment through music, acting and dance and realized it had become a seemingly significant part of her. Through those early years of her education, even till juggling between decisions on what course to choose after gaining admission into the University of Port-Harcourt, it remained apparent that Ms. Retta had one calling and that calling was her music. With a soulful voice and a mixture of Pop, Her music and sound takes you through a journey of life. This soulful and young singer is here to captivate the world with her unique style. She draws inspiration from the 70's, 80's music and the likes of Adele, Corrine Bailey Rae, Erykah Badu, Adele, Tracy Chapman, Amy Winehouse, Dido and Noseittes. Retta was discovered by Joy Tongo in 2008, President of Jton Productions while vacationing in Nigeria. According to Joy Tongo, Retta is the void that is missing in the African female music scene.. She is got the voice of angel, look of a goddess and determination to take her straight to the top.
As she walks into the doors of unveiling that true part of her, Nigerians can expect to see the elements of raw unleashed talents and Retta intends to bring that sensation with her own style. She looks up to her mum as a role model in her life . Retta intends achieving her goals, through self determination, hard work and GOD.”

Terrible Times in World Governments....Signs or Coincidence???

Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad may face mass protests this weekend from opposition groups.

Unrest in North Africa and Middle East may spread to Syria

What began as a popular uprising that toppled the Tunisian government before spreading into Algeria, Jordan, Yemen, Sudan and, of course, Egypt, may now be headed for Syria.
Opposition movements in Syria are calling for mass protests on Saturday against the rule of President Bashar Al-Assad.
The groups are organizing on Facebook, with several pages promoting protests in Damascus, Aleppo and other cities.
Protest organizers want better living standards, human rights improvements and a greater voice for youth, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute, a Washington-based organization that studies and translates news accounts and social-media postings.
It's unclear how many people might join the protests. A few thousand people had expressed their support for the movement on the Facebook pages, some of them undoubtedly from outside the country, the research institute said.
On Sunday, Sudan got a taste of the protests. An undetermined number of university students and others demanded the removal of the government in Facebook-organized protests that its leaders said were inspired by the events in Tunisia.
The students protested at a university in Khartoum, chanting "No to high prices, no to corruption" and "Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan together as one."
"The people of Sudan will not remain silent anymore. It is about time we demand our rights and take what's ours in a peaceful demonstration that will not involve any acts of sabotage," according an English-language version of the group's profile on Facebook.
"We will demonstrate against the rising of the prices, the corruption, unemployment and all false practices of the government such as violence against women and lashing them in ways that breaks all laws of religions and humanity and the violation of minorities' rights."
The Sudan Tribune newspaper, citing a statement from police, said 70 people, 40 of them students, were arrested after the protests.
Meanwhile, a Facebook page has surfaced calling for a protest Thursday in Yemen, which has been the site of a few demonstrations already.
The Tunisian protests that sparked the region's unrest sprang up after Mohamed Bouazizi, a 26-year-old college graduate, set himself on fire in protest of police confiscation of the fruit cart he had set up to make money. He later died.
The protests resulted in the collapse of Tunisia's government and inspired similar protests in other countries, including Algeria, Jordan, Sudan and Yemen.
The protests have reached their zenith to date in Egypt, where untold thousands of Egyptians have ignored government curfews and clashed with police over demands that President Hosni Mubarak resign.
A popular Facebook page that helped organize the Cairo protests was dedicated to Bouazizi.

As Foreigners Flee....Cairo Airport a Scene of Chaos

CAIRO – Amid scenes of chaos at Cairo's international airport, thousands of foreigners fled the unrest in Egypt, boarding special flights home or to nearby Mediterranean airports.
As countries around the world scrambled to send in planes to fly their citizens out on Monday, nerves and shouting and shoving matches erupted as passengers crammed into Cairo airport's new Terminal 3 seeking a flight home.
"It's an absolute zoo, what a mess," said Justine Khanzadian, 23, a graduate student from the American University of Cairo. "I decided to leave because of the protests, the government here is just not stable enough to stay."
Making matters worse, check-in counters were poorly staffed because many EgyptAir employees had been unable to get to work due to a 3 p.m.-to-8 a.m. curfew and traffic breakdowns across the Egyptian capital.
The U.S. State Department said it has evacuated more than 1,200 Americans aboard government-chartered planes and expects to fly out roughly 1,400 more in the coming days.
State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said that by the end of Monday six planes will have flown nine flights ferrying U.S. citizens from Cairo to Larnaca, Cyprus; Athens, Greece; and Istanbul, Turkey.
New York-based Pamela Huyser, who had traveled to Egypt for a conference, arrived in Larnaca, late Monday. She described the violent scene she witnessed from her ninth-floor hotel balcony in Cairo.
"You cannot even believe what we saw," she said. "We saw people looting, we saw gunfire, people shooting other people. A lot of people working in our hotel, they came out with sticks and knives and bats and they protected us from getting looted."
Earlier, a U.S. military plane landed in Lanarca with 42 people — mostly staff at U.S. embassies in Africa and elsewhere who had also traveled to Egypt for a conference.
Additional flights were also being arranged in Turkey and neighbor Greece, where authorities announced plans to increase coast guard patrols to deter immigrants from troubled north African countries from reaching the European Union member.
Greek oil worker Markos Loukogiannakis, who arrived in Athens on a flight carrying 181 passengers including 65 U.S. citizens, said confusion reigned at Cairo airport and travelers had to negotiate a string of checkpoints just to get there.
"In a 22-kilometer (14-mile) route from our suburb to the airport we had to get through 19 checkpoints, including nine manned by civilians," he said. "There were lots of people gathering at the airport and it was very difficult to get in."
He said security had deteriorated sharply over the past three days in Cairo after police withdrew from the streets.
In Germany, a special Lufthansa plane arrived in Frankfurt late Monday night with evacuees from Cairo.
Among the passengers was Guenther Kremer from Troisdorf in western Germany. He told reporters that the situation in Cairo was "chaotic."
"The big problem was, that one didn't have any information, one didn't know what is going to happen the next day — am I getting out or not," he said.
"We had to wait for three days to fly out — Egypt Air had canceled, so we were quite happy when Lufthansa showed up today and got us out."
In a geopolitical shift, even Iraq decided it would evacuate its citizens, sending three planes to Egypt — including the prime minister's plane — to bring home for free those who wish to return. Thousands of Iraqis had once fled to Egypt to escape the violence in their own country.
About 800 Iraqis had left Cairo by Monday afternoon, said Capt. Mohammed al-Moussawi, a crew member for the prime minister's plane. He said the flights would continue until all those who wished to return had done so.
Nearly 320 Indian nationals arrived in Mumbai on a special Air India flight and another 275 were expected later. An Azerbaijan flight carrying 103 people and the body of an Azeri Embassy accountant killed in the unrest arrived in Baku, and Turkey sent five planes to Cairo and Alexandria, evacuating 1,548 Turkish nationals.
Air Canada said a flight chartered by the Canadian government landed in Frankfurt, Germany, on Monday, carrying 174 Canadians plus 36 other foreigners, mostly Americans and Australians. A second Canadian-chartered flight was due to depart from Cairo on Tuesday.
Tristin Hutton, a bush pilot from Fort Francis, Ontario, who had been visiting his sister at the Canadian Embassy in Cairo, described a chaotic scene at the Cairo airport.
"People holding tickets had difficulties getting on the plane, because the airport in Cairo is pure chaos," the 44-year-old said.
"The terminals are full of panicking people. The ground staff is disappearing and at the gate, just before entering, we all together had to collect $2,000 for a policeman at the door," he said. "He would not let us pass without paying."
Indonesia was sending a plane to Cairo to start evacuating some 6,150 Indonesians — mostly students and workers — and SAS Denmark was flying home some 60 Danes.
China sent four planes to help pick up an estimated 500 Chinese stranded in Cairo and warned citizens not travel to Egypt.
That echoed earlier warnings from Britain, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark and the Czech Republic, which all advised against all nonessential travel to Egypt. Many European tour companies canceled trips to Egypt until Feb. 23, while others left the cancellations open until further notice.
One big question was what to do with the tens of thousands of tourists in other parts of Egypt. Tour operators say they will fly home all their customers this week when their holidays end, or on extra flights, stressing there has not been any unrest in Red Sea resort cities like Hurghada or Sharm el-Sheik. Still, food shortages were starting to be felt at some Egyptian resorts and some restaurants were refusing to serve foreigners.
All major German tour operators — among them TUI AG and Thomas Cook's German subsidiary — canceled day trips to Cairo and Luxor.
Britain estimated there were 30,000 U.K. tourists and long-term residents in Egypt but said it had no plans to evacuate them. Foreign Secretary William Hague warned people against all but essential travel to Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor and Suez.
The Danish company shipping company A.P. Moller-Maersk A/S chartered a plane to pick up relatives of its Danish employees in Egypt. The company said there were no terminal operations in Egypt on Monday and the Maersk Line, Safmarine and Damco offices were closed.
Air France canceled its daily flight from Paris to Cairo on Monday and planned to increase its capacity Tuesday by an extra 200 seats.
Portugal sent a C-130 military transport plane to evacuate its citizens. Greece was sending three C-130 military transport planes to Alexandria on Tuesday and the Polish airline LOT was flying to Cairo.

BRUNO MARS (THE GOLDEN VOICE)

BRUNO MARS

After a string of behind-the-scene jobs -- everything from writing songs for Brandy to impersonating Elvis -- singer/songwriter/producer Bruno Mars put his name on top of the charts in 2010 by collaborating with rapper B.o.B. for the single "Nothin' on You." Born Peter Hernandez in Waikiki, Hawaii, Mars' kicked off his career at the age of four fronting his uncle's band as the Island's youngest Elvis impersonator. Ten years later, he was impersonating the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, with the Legends in Concert show. After graduation, his uncle convinced him to move to the Mainland and follow of his dream of becoming a singer. Months of frustration and going nowhere followed before Mars met songwriter Phillip Lawrence, the man who would convince him to try his hand at writing songs for other artists. The two would dub themselves the Smeezingtons and co-write "Long Distance" which would be recorded in 2008 by R&B singer Brandy. The gigs came in fast after that and in 2009, when the duo co-wrote "Right Round" for rapper Flo Rida, they had their first number one hit on their hands. A year later, Mars would co-write and sing on B.o.B.'s number one hit "Nothin' on You," and would do the same for Travie McCoy with his cut "Billionaire." Also in 2010, he released his debut solo EP It's Better If You Don't Understand which featured more pop material mixed with the R&B.

FACEBOOK FLAWS

HERE ARE SEVEN THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER DO ON FACEBOOK

Millions of people are connected online with Facebook, but are you sharing too much? Here are seven things you shouldn’t do on the site, regardless of how keen you are on socialising online.
1) Never settle for the default settings
The people behind Facebook are keen for you to share your details with the world. The more you share, the more people you connect to, the more people want to sign up. However, sharing everything with all and sundry isn’t a good idea. To check and opt out of the recommended settings, open your Facebook page, click on ‘Account’ in the top right of the screen and then ‘Privacy settings’.
The ‘Recommended settings’ mean that your status, photo, posts, bio, favourite quotation, family and relationship details are shared with everyone. Photos and videos you’re tagged in, religious and political views and birthdays are shared with Friends of friends. Permission to comment on your posts, places you check in to, and contact information are shared with Friends only.
Change all to Friends only, and you’re safe from the prying world.
2) Never agree to have yourself listed on search engines
Telling your Facebook mates what’s going on in your life is one thing, but letting any old Tom, Dick or Harriet see your Facebook page via a web search is another. We would recommend opting to never have your Facebook details shared with other search engines.
To make sure you aren’t go to your Facebook page, ‘Account’, ‘Privacy Settings’, ‘Apps and websites’, then ‘Public Search’. De-tick the ‘Enable Public Search’ button.
3) Never put your address and phone number on Facebook
Unless you want app developers knowing where you live and how to contact you we wouldn’t recommend putting any real details in to Facebook for the time being. That means no home address and no phone number.
4) Never let apps lie dormant
One for the advanced Facebook user: Never let an app continue to suck your information once you’ve done with it.Remember the days when you played Zombies or maybe Vampires? Well those apps are most likely still active on your account and sucking in your personal data. Scary, huh?
Nip over to your Facebook page, go to ‘Account’, ‘Privacy Setting’ and then ‘Apps, games and websites’, and remove the ones you don’t want.
5) Never let your mum see your tagged photos
You’ve had one too many drinks and been tagged for all your friends, colleagues and family to see you not looking too hot. Not good. To avoid this, go to your Facebook page, ‘Account’, ‘Privacy Settings’, and make sure Photos and videos you’re tagged in is set to Friends only.
Taking this to the next level, you can also block individual people on top of those groups of people. Go to ‘Customise settings’, ‘Photos and videos I’m tagged in’ and chose to edit settings. Here from the drop-down menu chose ‘customise’ again and then start listing the people you want to hide your photos from.
6) Never give out your date of birth
What’s one of the first security questions you are ever asked when you deal with your bank? What’s your date of birth? And yet here you are giving it away on your Facebook page for all to see. You should never let people see the year you were born.
Go to your Facebook page, ‘Profile’, then ‘Edit profile’. In the first pane (‘Basic information’) chose as to whether you want to ‘Show my full date of birth in my Profile’, ‘Show only day and month in my Profile’ or ‘Don’t show my birthday in my profile’. If you still want birthday wishes go for the second option.
7) Never broadcast that you’re going on holiday
Always be careful about what you say on your status updates and never give out any personal information that you don’t want getting into the wrong hands.
Burglars prey on stuff like the fact that you’ve gone on holiday and left the keys under the flowerpot near the front door and the combination to the safe is…

"I was naked, but fully covered in silver paint," she said in the episode about the Mark Seliger photos, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “Oh my God, I’m more naked than I was in Playboy,” she told her sisters, in tears. But later, as the “too revealing” images brought more and more public and media attention, the star decided to “own” the pictures and things got better since.Nudity and Fame: The Kim Kardashian “W” Magazine Story

The Battle for Egypt's Past

Author Paul Sussman worked as a field archaeologist in Egypt for many years. His new novel, "The Hidden Oasis," is published by Bantam Press.

It sounds petty to say it given that over a hundred people have now lost their lives, but amid the seismic events currently engulfing Egypt, the thing that has most saddened and upset me has been the damage done to the country's uniquely rich cultural heritage.
I worked in Egypt for many years as a field archaeologist, and the news of widespread looting and destruction has been utterly heartbreaking.
So far, fortunately, the damage has not been anything like as severe or extensive as that witnessed in Iraq following the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003.
That damage has, and continues to be done, however, is beyond question. On the night of Friday, January 28, looters broke into the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo and vandalized some of its most precious artifacts (including objects from the Tutankhamen collection). Elsewhere -- at Saqqara, Abu Sir, Qantara to name but a few -- ancient monuments have been damaged, museums broken into and archaeological storage magazines ransacked.
Nor is it simply ancient remains that have been targeted. In Cairo, the city's Coptic Museum and the early 20th century El-Manial Palace have both suffered looting.
As Zahi Hawass, head of the country's Supreme Council of Antiquities, says on his website: "My heart is broken and my blood is boiling."
On one level, of course, the loss of a few objects, when set against so many deaths and injuries, is wholly irrelevant.
Even before the current upheavals, the preservation of historical remains featured low on the list of priorities of a majority of Egyptians, for whom simply getting food on the table is a daily struggle.
On another level, however, the damage to its cultural remains strikes at the very heart of the Egyptian identity.
In Egypt, history matters. This is a country that for 3,000 years under the pharaohs was one of the world's predominant superpowers. It played a crucial role in the development of early Christianity (it was the birthplace of the monastic tradition) and was the political center of the Muslim world under the Fatimid and, later, the Mameluk dynasties. In modern times, under Gamal Abdel Nasser, it was at the forefront of the Arab Nationalist movement.
For every Egyptian I have ever met, this history is a source of immense pride. It is hard-wired into their cultural conscious, is intricately bound up with their sense of self. Not simply because history brings tourists and tourists bring money (11 percent of Egyptian GDP comes from tourism), but because in a country where poverty, lack of opportunity and repression are the norm, the glories of the past offer a form of empowerment in the present.
There is a telling, and wonderful story of Tutankhamen's body being returned to his tomb in Luxor after a period being studied in Cairo. As the boat carrying the body moved along the Nile, fellaheen women lined the river's banks ululating in honor of the dead king. For them, this was not some distant, meaningless figure, but rather one of their own.
Egyptians feel a personal connection with their past. It shouldn't be over-sentimentalized, and during my years working there I encountered numerous instances of friction -- often violent friction - between the Antiquities authorities and the interests of local people. Appreciation of one's national heritage tends to diminish when your house is being knocked down because it happen to be built over some Old Kingdom remains.
That said, a vast majority of Egyptians have been deeply shocked by the current looting and destruction. It is as if their own property has been attacked. Across the country, in the absence of police protection, they have mobilized to defend their monuments. In Cairo, hundreds of people linked arms around the museum to protect it; on the West Banks of the Nile in Luxor citizen's groups have banded together to guard the tombs and temples.
What they are defending is not so much a few dusty old objects as the very idea of what it is to be Egyptian.
If I am saddened that so many objects seem to have been trashed and stolen, I am at the same time deeply heartened that so many ordinary people have demonstrated how much their heritage means to them, and that in the midst of a struggle for their country's future, they are at the same time looking out for its past.
