Gamu faces Home Office visa appeal

The Home Office is challenging a decision to allow former X Factor contestant Gamu Nhengu to stay in the UK.

The 19-year-old singer and her family learned last week that had been granted leave to remain in the UK, having faced deportation to their native Zimbabwe.
But now Gamu, her mother and her two brothers - who have all lived in Scotland for eight years - have heard that the Home Office is to appeal the immigration court decision.

A Home Office spokesman said: "We can confirm that we are appealing the decision. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage of the proceedings.

"The UK Border Agency considers every case carefully and where we do not believe someone has the right to stay in the country, and does not require our protection, we expect them to return home."

What do you reckon? Should the Home Office let it lie now? Comment below...
