GMA-7 Brings Inspiration To The Entire Family with 'Munting Heredera'

GMA-7 brings to light an inspiring new addition to its primetime block with the premiere of its newest and pioneering family drama this year, Munting Heredera. It will replace Dwarfina beginning May 9 on GMA Telebabad.

With its enlightening and equally heartwarming plot, this latest Kapuso offering tells of a grandmother’s search for the missing piece in her life, her “munting heredera”.

Portraying the lead character of Doña Anastacia, a self-made, widowed businesswoman, is revered veteran actress and one of the original Philippine movie queens Ms. Gloria Romero, who makes her first appearance in a Kapuso teledrama.

The award-winning actress lends her expertise in acting, which has earned her acclaim in movies such as Dalagang Ilokana, Nagbabagang Luha, Magnifico, and Tanging Yaman, to this original drama meant to portray familial issues in a modern Filipino setting.

Playing equally significant roles are Mark Anthony Fernandez as Jacob, Doña Anastacia’s only grandson; Camille Prats as Sandra/Susan, Jacob’s girlfriend; Katrina Halili as Lynette, an ambitious former entertainer; Luz Valdez as Marya, Doña Ana’s best friend and executive assistant; Gabby Eigenmann as Desmond, Claire’s husband and Jacob’s unproductive cousin; Leandro Baldemor as Philip, a doctor and Lynette’s lover; Ynez Veneracion as Claire, Desmond’s manipulative wife; Neil Ryan Sese as Simeon, a man secretly in love with Sandra; and Tween Stars Krystal Reyes as Gemma, Lupita’s deprived but hardworking scholar; Kristoffer Martin as TJ, Rachel’s co-scholar and love interest; and Joyce Ching as Kyla, Desmond and Claire’s arrogant daughter.

Asian Television Awards Best Actor and former notable child actor, Roderick Paulate takes on the important role of Manny, a closet homosexual math teacher whose yearning for a child will push him to adopt a child.

The Kapuso Network also proudly introduces three of its newest young discoveries, Barbara Miguel as Calilla, Kyle Daniel Ocampo as Michelle, and Mona Louise Rey as Jennifer. After a series of rigorous auditions, these three equally talented girls have earned their way towards becoming the next Kapuso child sensation, possibly joining the ranks of Buboy Villar, Jillian Ward, and Angelie Nicole Sanoy.

One will claim to be the heiress to Doña Anastacia’s wealth. Born with the proverbial silver spoon in her mouth, she grows up to be as arrogant and selfish as her mother, whose manipulative ways managed to deceive everyone in their family.

Another will grow up wanting and lacking in many things in life. Through an unexpected unfolding of events, she will be mistaken as the real daughter of Sandra (Camille Prats) and Jacob (Mark Anthony Fernandez), the biological parents of the missing heiress.

Finally, the true “munting heredera” is raised in the humble yet loving arms of her adoptive parent. She lived the first few years of her life completely unaware of her true identity, and the vast fortune that awaits her. But in the end, fate will lead her to where she truly belongs, and claim what is rightfully hers.

Directed by multi-award winning filmmaker Maryo J. delos Reyes, the genius behind widely commended films Magnifico and Kamoteng Kahoy, and written by Agnes Gagelonia-Uligan, Munting Heredera tackles universal issues concerning each member of the family. As the show actively follows the lead character’s search for her “munting heredera”, discover how a family once torn apart by pride, selfishness and greed can still be restored by love, forgiveness, and faith.

The search for the “Munting Heredera” begins May 9 right after Captain Barbell on GMA Telebabad. It can also be seen worldwide via GMA Pinoy TV, the network’s flagship international channel, beginning May 11.
