It's New York's fashion equivalent to the Oscars, and each year the stars turn up their fashion game for the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala. This year, it seems, was no different, when Monday night A-listers gathered to pay tribute to Alexander McQueen, who is the subject of this year's exhibit and who made headlines last week when Kate Middleton wore one of his designs as she wed Prince William.

While many of the celebrities in attendance didn't wear McQueen designs, longtime pal Sarah Jessica Parker dazzled in one of the late designer's looks, wearing a nude-colored, long-sleeved dress. Salma Hayek also hit the carpet in nude-colored McQueen. She went for a romantic look in a soft, gathered gown with rose detailing.

Young Hollywood was all over the gala. Going for a mature look, Taylor Swift wore a black- and nude-colored J. Mendel gown complete with lace detailing. Kristen Stewart wore a halter, geometric-printed black and red Proenza Schouler gown. Emma Stone kept it funky in her black and grey rose-printed Lanvin gown.

Stella McCartney designs were plentiful on the carpet as well. While Gwyneth Paltrow went sophisticated in her sleeved McCartney gown, Rihanna looked wild in a barely there black lace dress by the designer, complete with braided hair and emerald earrings. Madonna wore McCartney, going old-school Hollywood glam in a flowing aqua gown. A very pregnant Kate Hudson also wore the designer, opting for a strapless, satin, champagne-colored choice.

Other stars who dazzled on the carpet include "American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez in a hot pink Gucci dress, who, like Beyoncé in her Emilio Pucci, went for peek-a-boo cutouts. Blake Lively looked a bit avant-garde in her nude and white draped gown by Chanel Haute Couture, and a glittering and pregnant Jessica Alba wore Ralph Lauren Collection.
