Speculation: Rumours are flowing about the identity of the father of January Jones' baby, with X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn among the names touted

She has kept mum on the identity of the father of her unborn child. But it seems her silence may be contributing to the intense rumours surrounding the paternity of X Men star January Jones's unborn baby.

Now the film's producer, and supermodel Claudia Schiffer's husband, Matthew Vaughn, has been named among the potential dads-to-be.

And Vaughn's no-show at a recent screening sent online commentators into a frenzy, suggesting the reason behind his no-show was the speculation.

Vaughn was also unable to attend a screening of the new film because of 'severe tonsillitis'.

According to E! Online, Vaughn, director of her new movie X-Men: First Class had a 'very close' relationship with the actress on set.

The article alleges Vaughn 'abruptly' left town at around the same time Jones made her surprise baby announcement in April even though he was scheduled to stay for another month.

The report was picked up by the New York Daily News and several other news outlets, although it is no longer visible on the website.

While the Mad Men actress, 33, has yet to reveal the identity of the baby's father, some have said it could be an ex, while others have speculated Jones is keeping the name of her baby's father a secret because he is not a single man.

When former boyfriend, Saturday Night Live comic Jason Sudeikis was recently asked if he had any comment about Jones' recent baby news, he became tongue-tied, saying, ‘I'd rather – yes but no.’

While her X-Men co-star Michael Fassbender is another name being touted.

Yesterday the pregnant actress spent the day promoting her new movie X Men: First Class.

As the star of Mad Men she squeezed herself into corsets for every scene but that was out of the question this week as her baby bump was clearly visible.

She chose to dress in a stylish black shift dress with lace neckline.

The actress completed the effortless look by tying her hair up in a loose bun and hiding from the Manhattan sun behind over-sized cat’s eye sunglasses.

Hard at work: January Jones and Zoe Kravitz promote X Men: First Class on the Today Show

Jones had earlier joined cast mates James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Zoe Kravitz to chat with Today Show host Matt Lauer about the latest instalment of the mutant movie series, but the conversation inevitably turned to her impending motherhood.

'I feel really good, obviously I have the giggles all the time,' laughed the actress when Lauer asked how she was coping with her pregnancy. 'I feel really good.'

Most famous for her role as uptight 60s housewife Betty Draper, Jones plays Emma Frost in the X-Men prequel, who’s skill is the power to turn her body into diamonds, 'anytime she wants to be physically indestructible, just the coolest person ever – super sparkly,' revealed Jones. 'And she’s a telepath.'

Superheroes: Jones admitted that if she could have any super power she wanted, it would be that of co-star Zoe Kravitz’s character, Angel Salvadore

Jones admitted that if she could have any super power she wanted, it would be that of co-star Zoe Kravitz’s character, Angel Salvadore.

'I’d want to fly,' she told Lauer.

Bizarrely, Fassbender, who plays villain Magneto, said he had more animalistic desires.

'I’d like a tail, I think it would look nice. I could hold a lemonade while I’m on a computer, it’s good for balance.'

Relaxing: Later in the day Jones went for a walk near Central Park

The film chronicles the start of the mutant school by Charles Xavier and the beginning of the superhero group.

'You start the story where it’s meant begin,' explained James McAvoy, who takes on Professor Charles Xavier from Patrick Stewart.

The previous night, the soon-to-be single mother glowed on the red carpet at the X Men: First Class premiere in a chic Preen cocktail dress that gathered at her waist to perfectly accentuate her growing baby bump.
