Filming Begins On Tim Burton's Dark Shadows

Source: Warner Bros

Filming begins this week on Warner Bros. Pictures' and Village Roadshow Pictures' "Dark Shadows," which brings the cult classic television series to the big screen under the direction of Tim Burton. The film's all-star ensemble cast includes Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley, Jonny Lee Miller, Bella Heathcote, Chloe Moretz, and newcomer Gulliver McGrath.

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet—or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy...until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.

Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles.

Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth's ne'er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Roger's precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis, played by Jackie Earle Haley, and David's new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.

Burton is directing and producing "Dark Shadows" from a screenplay by Seth Grahame-Smith, story by John August and Grahame-Smith, based on the television series created by Dan Curtis. Also producing are Oscar® winner Richard D. Zanuck ("Alice in Wonderland," "Driving Miss Daisy"), continuing his long association with Burton; Oscar® winner Graham King, ("Rango," "The Departed"), continuing his collaboration with Depp; Johnny Depp, Christi Dembrowski, and David Kennedy. The executive producers are Chris Lebenzon, Nigel Gostelow, Tim Headington, and Bruce Berman.

The behind-the-scenes creative team includes cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel, Oscar(R)-winning production designer Rick Heinrichs ("Sleepy Hollow"), Oscar(R)-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood ("Alice in Wonderland") and editor Chris Lebenzon ("Alice in Wonderland"). The score will be composed by Danny Elfman.

"Dark Shadows" is being filmed entirely in England, both at Pinewood Studios and on location.

"Dark Shadows" will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

New Images And Casting News For DRACULA'S ORGY OF THE DAMNED

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: James Baack

Two vampire stories in a row! Today certainly seems like it's turning into a regular "blood drinking fiesta" doesn't it?

When I opened my email box this morning I was pleasantly surprised to find a batch of brand new photos from James Baack's latest horror opus "Dracula's Orgy of the Damned".

Okay, I know the word "Orgy" in there may give you the idea that what Baack is filming up there in Chicago is something for late-night Cinemax viewers. I assure you that is not the case. In actuality "Orgy of the Damned" is a homage to the classic horror films produced by the British production company Hammer in the 1960s and 70s.

Sorry, it's not a skin-flick .....

Production on this one is starting to wind down as Baack explains, "We still have five more scenes to shoot and we will wrap it up. We have been editing like crazy hoping to get a release date by this Halloween.

The movie looks great so far and we are confident that any fans of vampire films will sink their fangs into this."

Baack also let me in on some news about shooting locations and a new addition to the production.

"We are also very excited to bring aboard English actor Timothy Pollard to the cast.

Tim is the official actor to play Robin Hood at Notingham Castle ( http://www.timpollard.com/). We are very excited and pleased to have him aboard to play a part shot in England in the dungeons of Nottingtham Castle early in the film. We are also having some footage shot next month in actual Transylvania in the Carpathian mountains for the opening credits."

Sounds like "Dracula's Orgy of the Damned" will be much more dynamic than Baack's previous film, "The Bloody Rage of Bigfoot."

Our hats off to you James, keep up the good work!

Here are the for mentioned photos from "Dracula's Orgy of the Damned":

Asian Girl On Girl Vampire Action In EMPRESS VAMPIRE

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Sources: Avery Guerra / Empress Vampire via Facebook

It has been a long time since I posted anything about a kinky, cheesy, horror flick so when I found a link in my inbox from my pal Avery Guerra about a little film called "Empress Vampire" I decided to once again take a walk on the naughty side.

From watching the trailer one can only assume that the film is nothing more than a showcase for plenty of hot Asian lesbian scenes mixed in with a fair amount of blood and gore. Who would expect anything less? Right?

Though this type of film is not necessarily my cup of tea, I have learned through the years that MIN readers really dig vampires ..... especially sexy Asian ones who feed off of sexy white girls.

Consider this one community service.

Your Welcome ...

Here is the plot:

The revelry of an upscale Halloween party is shattered by gunshots when two armed robbers attempt to fleece the well-to-do patrons of their money and jewels. A diminutive cloaked figure steps out from the crowd and despite being shot multiple times, effortlessly dispenses with the thieves. These superhuman feats do not go unnoticed and when news of them reaches the Secretary of Defense, Arthur Hayes (Tom Cochran), he dispatches FBI Agent Dan Higgins (Beau Nelson) to track the figure down.

Higgin’s quest turns ominous when he discovers he is attempting to track down a vampire, but not just any vampire - the Empress Vampire (Ange Maya), the source from which all other vampires descended!

Higgins then enlists the aid of Ivor Helsing, a vampire hunter (Garrett Brawith), and Ariana , a psychic (Laura Contenescue), who are also intent on tracking the Empress down.

The Empress Vampire is no ordinary vampire. She craves more than mere blood. She is carnal as well as carnivorous and sexually exhausts her prey before satisfying her need for their blood. As she kills, the Empress savagely mutilates her victims and toys with their entrails.

But is she the evil one, or is she being sought by a more malevolent force?

Not for the squeamish or easily-offended. Empress Vampire is a journey into darkness – the darkness of ancient evil, the darkness of human greed, and the darkness of the perversion of the Empress Vampire.

Hey .... you had better see this one or some crazy ..... hot ... Asian vampire chick will come find you and pull out your eyes!

Here is the trailer plus some more photos from "Empress Vampire":

Three New Images From FRIGHT NIGHT

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Walt Disney Studios / Dreamworks

Disney has just released three brand new pics from their remake of "Fright Night" which is due out this summer. Unfortunately none of these feature every ones favorite Doctor, David Tennant as Vincent. I know that will make a few of you, and you know who you are, rather miffed.

Regardless, they do feature Colin Farrell and Anton Yelchin which will make others very happy indeed.

Here's the synopsis from the Mouse Factory:

Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collette), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.

Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) is a high school senior who’s on top of the world—that is until Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door and Charlie discovers that he is a vampire preying on the neighborhood.

And here are the photos with descriptions and legal stuff:

A New Retro Style Poster For DRACULA'S ORGY OF THE DAMNED

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: James Baack

I just got an email from my buddy, Chicago area film maker, James Baack with a new retro style promo poster for his film "Dracula's Orgy of the Damned" attached.

Baack also included an update on the production in which he reveals that Dracula is not the only classic monster who will be appearing in his homage to Hammer horror.

"We have been doing alot of filming and are heading into the home strech at this point.

We have 4 more scenes to shoot and that will be a wrap.

We are planning a HUGE exorcism scene that will be chock full of special effects and way "over the top" visuals. Including a levitating bed and more vomit than a St. Patrick's Day party.

Then we need to shoot our 'cat fight' scene where Dracula will host a bizarre circus "freak Show" where women will fight with baseball bats, chainsaws, and other weapons of mass destruction in a dirty pit while the audience cheers and places bets. The scene will also include disturbing clowns, monkeys, and other mayhem.

We hope to get the entire project completed and pressed by September or October. (Just in time for Halloween.)

The film not only includes Dracula, but it also features Dr. Frankenstein and his monster, a werewolf, and enough ghouls to fill a barnyard."

Women fighting in a pit with baseball bats? Vomit filled exorcisms?

Oh God! You really gotta love James he knows how to make his films interesting and he always surprises you by pulling out all the stops.

I'm all in on this one!

BEING HUMAN Returning To BBC Three For Season Four

Source: BBC

Being Human, BBC Three's award-winning and critically acclaimed drama series, written and created by Toby Whithouse, will return for a fourth series next year.

Following the gripping series three finale – in which overnight figures show 1.1m viewers watched Mitchell fall victim to the wolf-shaped bullet – series four will see the aftermath as the housemates return to their home in Barry Island.

The series will also introduce some new faces following the success of recent guest artists Lacey Turner, Robson Green and Michael Socha.

Produced by Touchpaper Wales, part of Zodiak Media Group, the hit drama will fulfil the bloodthirsty appetites of its ongoing committed fan base, but also demonstrate BBC Three's commitment to original UK drama for 16-34 year olds.

Consolidated figures show series three had the biggest series launch to date, with 1.8m viewers. The series sustained an average of 1.4m viewers on television across the run and has an additional 0.4m requests per episode on iPlayer each week.

Becoming Human, Being Human's exclusive online extension drama also made by Touchpaper Wales, has also moved from online to BBC Three for its final episode airing on Sunday 20 March at 9.00pm.

This is BBC Three's most successful multiplatform commission, with over 1.5m views on the red button and online to date.

Harry Lansdown, Acting Controller, BBC Three, says: "Being Human's brilliant mixture of fantasy and everyday life continues to provide must-see, ground breaking drama for BBC Three, and I'm delighted to announce a fourth series for 2012."

Toby Whithouse, Creator and Executive Producer, says: "We were overwhelmed by the response to series three, and so we're absolutely thrilled that the BBC have given us this opportunity to continue our show into a fourth year.

"We've got another intense and epic story lined up for you, with some new faces and old, and even more horror and mayhem and mugs of tea. I can't wait to get started."

Rob Pursey, Executive Producer, Touchpaper Television, says: "Being Human feels like it's taken on a life of its own now, and we are delighted. I've never known a drama develop such a strong relationship with its audience. We're very excited to be making a fourth series."

Eleanor Moran, Executive Producer, BBC Cymru Wales, says: "Following such a dramatic finale, I am thrilled to have Being Human return for a fourth series."

The fourth series of Being Human has 8 x 60-minute episodes and has been commissioned by Ben Stephenson, Controller, BBC Drama Commissioning and Harry Lansdown, Acting Controller, BBC Three.

Being Human is written by Toby Whithouse (Torchwood, Doctor Who) and the fourth series will be produced by Philip Trethowan. Executive Producers are Toby Whithouse, Rob Pursey, Touchpaper Television, and Eleanor Moran, for BBC Cymru Wales.

Joe Harris To Sink His Teeth Into VAMPIRELLA & THE SCARLET LEGION

Source: Dynamite Entertainment

Vampirella & the Scarlet Legion #1 is an ALL-NEW mini-series coming out in May written by Joe Harris! With the main Vampirella series seeing sell-out after sell-out with so many retailers, this new mini-series will serve to compliment this HOT ongoing series. For fans new and old, this series will re-introduce The Scarlet Legion to Vampirella's mythology!

Keeping in mind that #1 main covers sold out from Dynamite, and Vampirella #2 close to a near sell out, there is no question that Dynamite's Vampirella title is a bonafide hit! Dynamite also recently announced that Vampirella Archives, Vol. 1 was #1 on Hardcover Graphic Books New York Times Bestseller List for the week of January 23rd! Dynamite plans on continuing Vampirella's amazing success with Vampirella & the Scarlet Legion!

In May's Vampirella & the Scarlet Legion #1, The Crimson Chronicles, that foul bible of blood, foretells the coming of Chaos, the Destroyer and his servants on earth. Since her earliest days, Vampirella has stood between that vicious cult and their Mad God's plans. But when an ancient prophecy of doom is uncovered and a new push to resurrect the foulest demons from the pit is revealed, it's clear Vampirella won't be able to take them on alone. Enter THE SCARLET LEGION, assembled to keep the dark things at bay and protect this world from the evils which lie beyond. The only question is, will they see Vampirella as friend... or foe?

"I'm stoked to be working on a Vampirella story, one of the baddest, sexiest and most iconic characters and properties in horror comics," says writer Joe Harris. "We're looking to do something big and sprawling with a bit of a globe-spanning sweep to it. A big screen adventure interwoven with some some frightening and truly horrific moments that, I hope, will help keep the dark scary. Vampirella & The Scarlet Legion expands our vampire heroine's inner circle a bit, but not always with friends. Sometimes rivals, or even enemies, make for more interesting dynamics. We're doing horror, after all. You want to keep things tense, and less than rosy. I'm a big fan of what Dynamite has been able to do in this market and I'm both proud and humbled to be on board. They've taken some great properties and really carved out a space for themselves. Nick Barrucci is a true patron of this industry and it's no wonder Dynamite have gotten a lot of well-deserved attention lately."

"I've always followed Joe Harris' writing history, admiring his work inside and outside of the comics market," says Dynamite President and Publisher Nick Barrucci. "After making his return to comics at Oni, we've kept in touch for the last few years trying to find the right project. Vampirella is very important to Dynamite and we would not entrust a series, even a mini-series, to anyone that could not execute. Having seen the overview and Joe's script to date, we definitely made the right call!"

"There are some great things happening in the Vampirella ongoing and now that we've brought Joe [Harris] in, we can begin to add a little flesh to the skeleton," says Dynamite Editor Joe Rybandt. "Readers of the ongoing know that the mystery is right there upfront in terms of who or what Vampirella is and with Vampirella & the Scarlet Legion, we take a step back to time shortly before our main series and explore the roots of the world Vampirella is finding herself in. We'll meet some old friends and a slew of new enemies along the way, Guaranteed."

New Behind The Scenes Photos From DRACULA'S ORGY OF THE DAMNED

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: James Baack

My kindred spirit from the frozen tundra of Chicago James Baack just sent me a whole bunch of new behind the scenes photos from his latest film "Dracula's Orgy of the Damned. In fact, I think he sent them to me via his cell phone while he was stranded in his snow covered car somewhere on the vast motorways of the windy city.

Good luck to you James ...... hopefully you'll be found before spring.

Anyway, enough of my silliness, "Orgy of the Damned" is Baack's tribute to the great Hammer horrors of the 60s and 70s. Though with James nothing is quite as it seems, as these photos will attest. From the looks of things one can only gather that this film will be a cross between "Nosferatu", "Blade", "Resident Evil" .... um... "Rambo" and of course Hammer.

Then again, I could be way off base with that.

The cast, which includes Claire “Fluff” Llewellyn, Cassandra and Colleen Carajval, Shawn C. Phillips and illusionist Ron Fitzgerald as Dracula, and crew have been braving what has turned out to be one of the harshest winters ever to make "Orgy of the Damned" a reality. Filming in between blizzards since the beginning of the year.

Here are the pics:

Lenora Crichlow Talks About The Third Season Of BEING HUMAN

Source: BBC

How do viewers meet Annie in the new series, as she was left in purgatory in the series two?

When we see her in episode one she is in a bad way – she is still in purgatory and frantic about what will happen to her. She is crying out for help and you get a sense of her desperation. It doesn't look good for her at the beginning of the series.

How does Annie feel about the move to Barry?

To say she is less than excited would probably be the right thing. I don't think Annie is great with change. She likes her routine, she likes familiar surroundings. The fact that they've moved puts her out a little bit and then she surveys Barry and is even more unenthused. But she gets used to it pretty quickly and it does become her home. She's a good homemaker, Annie, so she can cope.

Do you think she'll miss Bristol?

I think there is an element of that, but also a really nice sense of starting again and a fresh start – which I think they all want and need – and, for Annie, it's a chance to make new memories of a place and wipe the slate clean. There is a lot of stuff that wasn't so great about the place she was in – and Bristol itself – so the move is for the best.

How would you describe the new pad?

Big! Big and really fantastic – we were blown away by the set. It's stunning on and off camera. It felt like being in a big dolls' house and felt very homely for a set. It was much more solid then the last set and on a much bigger scale. The attention to detail is exquisite – I was so impressed.

Will Annie's rescue from purgatory show a different side to her this series?

Definitely. Annie's done a 360. When we meet her in series three, she is much more empowered and secure – and I think that's because the worst thing that could have happened to her has happened. She now has fearlessness about her and a real appreciation for everybody that is in her little life. We definitely see a different side to her this series – she has definitely grown.

How would you describe the new characters?

There are some fantastic new characters in the show. This series really starts to pad out the world that the three of them find themselves in. It becomes a lot more complex and you see the scale of what's going on. It's not just the three of them in a flat anymore; it starts to filter out into the real world. There are some brilliant cameos and brilliant regulars that take us through series three. You'll laugh, cry and drool!

The new characters mean the three of us really start to build up a community, as we realise we are not alone. It's what I'd call an alternative community, which they are introduced to and when they begin to explore and become part of it, it's really exciting. But the three of us are still very much a tight unit.

How has it been working with all the fantastic guest stars?

All the guest stars were pretty amazing. Lacey Turner was fantastic – she was great to work with and a lovely person. We had some great scenes together.

Have there been any memorable scenes this year, any scenes that have been particularly fun to shoot?

There's a scene where Russell has to give us this weird look and I don't know how he does it, but he managed to have everybody in hysterics. Even members of the crew had to step off set. We were just in absolute fits – professionalism went out the window completely!

When you get the scripts have there ever been moments when you think: "I never thought they would take Annie there"?

There are a lot of surprises for Annie in this series. The thing with Toby is you just trust him that much that you don't want to second guess him. I won't lie – everybody has a pop at what they think is going to happen – but he just manages to make everything make sense, it's all very organic.

And I'm always in absolute surprise by what's coming next and it keeps me on my toes. It draws me in. Even if you feel you saw it coming, Toby writes it in such a way that you'll have that "huh?" moment.

But one thing I will say is that you need to stick with series three till the end – the end is a blinder!

"It's not everyday you get to create a Lovecraftian horror, begin codifying an ancient religion, and pit Vampirella against Dracula himself. And working with talented co-creators -- pencillers Wagner Reis and some beautiful dream sequences by Fabiano Neves -- well, that's just the icing on the cake."

Featuring work by Forest J. Ackerman, Don Glut, Tom Sutton, Neal Adams, Ernie Colon, Billy Graham, Alan Weiss, Jeff Jones, and Frank Frazetta, Volume One collects the first seven terrifying issues of the magazine's original run, reprinted in its original magazine-sized format, and features the very first Vampirella cover by the immortal Frank Frazetta!

The book features such names as Jose Gonzalez, Adam Hughes, Dave Stevens, Jim Silke, Jae Lee, Joe Jusko, Amanda Conner, Mark Texeira, Mike Mignola, Mike Mayhew, Joe Quesada, Bruce Timm, Arthur Suydam, Dan Brereton, Michael Golden, J. New Teaser Art And Casting News For DRACULA'S ORGY OF THE DAMNED

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Sources: James Back / Avery Guerra

Just as promised, Chicago area film maker James Baack is keeping us up to date with all the latest news on his latest movie project, "Dracula's Orgy of the Damned." As you can probably gather from the film's title, "Orgy" is Baack's homage to the classic horror films produced by the UK studio, Hammer, in the 1960s. In keeping with that overall feel, Baack has pulled out all the stops for this one, even more so than he did for his last epic, "The Bloody Rage of Bigfoot", and is taking his time to 'get it right'. The film maker has found the best locations possible for filming, including a castle in Illinois that looks like it belongs in Eastern Europe.

Baack is also taking the casting of his film very seriously, hiring Max Shrek look-a-like, master illusionist Ron Fitzgerald, to play Dracula.

What tribute to Hammer would be complete without lovely ladies? Well, Baack has covered his bases there by casting the twin sisters Cassandra and Colleen Carajval, along with the newly added Claire “Fluff” Llewellyn (photo above), who will be playing the lead in the film.

According to Baack, "Claire will be playing the character Patricia Hughes who spends a better part of the story hunting down Dracula on a path of revenge."

Sounds rather "Hammer-like".

Another recent addition to the cast is actor Shawn C. Phillips who has also appeared in “Assault of the Sasquatch", "Hell House" and "President's Day."

Though filming for "Dracula's Orgy of the Damned" began last September, the project has been put on hiatus until the beginning of 2011, in Baack's words, "to capture the gray and 'wintry' feel of the movie."

Look for more "Orgy" news in the near future!

Oh, and before I forget, James also sent along two new 'teaser' posters from his film as well:
