115th Wacky Boston Marathon

Some 27000 runners representing 90 countries took part in the 115th running of the Boston Marathon. Injuy!

A wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen.

I'm in a pickle whether run or just ride the T.

With full packs and in boots, members of the U.S. Army join the 115th Boston Marathon. We salute you guys!

These colors don't run.

High five for Team Griffin's Friends!

Pearly Shells, from the ocean, shining in the sun...

No Pants Subway Ride Boston 2011

Hoyyy!  Mga Pinoy!  Papahuli ba tayo? OK?

The Other Side of The Wall

This is the photo-mural on the opposite side of "The Wall" along Modica Way .  A black and white photo collage on enameled steel panel that commemorates the faces and flavor of Central Square.

Self appointed enforcer of the law. Naalala ko tuloy si Ranger ng Paco.

The Swan Boats of Boston

The weather is so nice, parang Maynila but not muggy that I decided to bring my lunch baon to the mini lake of Boston Common. As usual puno ng turista ang Swan Boats of Boston.  Gustong sumakay ni Bertha kaso bawal daw. Ang sabida pa eh  "read the sign kid."

For over 130 years, the Swan Boats have been a part of the Boston experience. As a welcome sign of Spring, they grace the waters of the Boston Public Garden, the first botanical garden in the United States. Famed in the stories Make Way for Ducklings and The Trumpet of the Swan, the Swan Boats are the only boats of their kind in the world.

The current Swan Boats carry around 20 passengers, seated on transverse benches, on a 15 minute figure of eight voyage around the lake. The boats are 30 ft long (9.1 m), and are formed of two pontoons in a catamaran  arrangement. They are manually propelled by a crewmember, often a high school or college student, who pedals and steers the craft from within the swan outline shell at the stern. The pedals drive a paddle wheel situated between the boat's twin hulls. [wiki]

19-Gun Salute

Each year on the first Monday of June, the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts reenacts a drumhead election on the Boston Common where its officers are chosen in a ceremony overseen by the organization's Commander in Chief - the Governor of the Commonwealth. This is the firing of the Howitzer cannons  announcing the entrance of Governor Deval Patrick.

Sowa Street Fashion Show

I was able to catch the ending of the fashion show at Sowa Open Market last Sunday.  This is one of unique gowns made one of the local fashion designers, which was so eye-catching, everyone had to stop and look.

It's not everyday that one gets up close and personal with a fashion show model.

Whatever was the inspiration for this gown, it sure looks like it's out of this world.

Marine Week comes to Boston Common

From May 3 – 9, 2010 the city of Boston will open its doors to hundreds of Marines for Marine Week Boston!  This event will honor and recognize the contributions of Marines, including Boston-based hometown heroes and their families.

Spectators can expect to see Marines volunteering with community groups, hosting physical fitness challenges and sports clinics in city parks and showcasing state-of-the-art Marine vehicles, aircraft and equipment. Bostonians can also enjoy musical performances by various Marine musical ensembles throughout the week.

One shot, one kill.

Every Marine is a Rifleman.

Dream Central

Multicultural Manifestoes by Ritsuko Taho

This half-acre installation in the heart of Central Square reveals the inner hopes of Cantabrigians of all ages and backgrounds. Ritsuko Taho spent five months soliciting "dream statements" via public meetings, workshops, and "dream collection boxes" around Central Square. She then inscribe selections on six rings of brass cylinders. The statements range from personal ambitions (becoming a teacher, veterinarian, or dancer; finishing college) to goals for the world at large (ending racism, and pollution, increasing tolerance and unity). Three of the scroll rings rest on a pillar of frosted glass bearing the word "dream" in 48 languages.

MassArt’s Wearable Art

Wearable Art is a collection of 30 creative designs, including non-textiles, contemporary daywear, elegant eveningwear and expertly tailored coats produced by MassArt fashion students. The exhibit will be highlighted today by Burlington Mall’s second annual Simon Fashion Now event.

MassArt’s Jayne Avery explains, “The students and I can’t wait to fit traffic cones, 3-D glasses, molded vinyl records and more on our special models. No one is expecting silk charmeuse or duchess satin – it’s all recycled, sustainable, eco-friendly wearable art!”

Wear your favorite vinyls to your parties and you'll definitely be the one-hit wonder!

And when you need to look like one of your favorite Dancing with Stars, this is the easiest way to look like one -be sure to have enough elastics for your eye-popping number.

How about showing your eco-conciousness by wearing your latte cups to go? That's hot.

Live Lobsters and Crab Cakes

Masarap iterno sa New England Clam Chowder na made with fresh clams. Puwedeng din bumili ng live lobsters sa Logan Airport, pasalubong ready to go. You can also order it online sa James Hook & Company. Paki google na lang po.

Doon sa mga ayaw magluto (mag torture) ng lobster, nandiyan ang Legal Seafoods, sabi nga, if it isn't fresh, it isn't Legal! Or any mom and pop seafood joint dito sa Bahstun o sa Maine and New Hampshire. Mura din po ang
Fish and Chips sa Kellys. Fresh North Atlantic white fish, fried crisp outside, tender inside, served with french fries, onion rings and a side of Kelly's own tartar sauce, ten bucks lang po yan.
